My dear Alexander,
Thank you for your letter of the 22nd October
2 regarding the letter which I sent to Wigram on the 24th
of June, enclosing a despatch asking whether the King
would be pleased to become Patron of the University of
Hong Kong.
I duly received Hardinge's letter asking whether
there are other universities in the Colonies whose claims
might be considered as good as that of Hong Kong University,
but I am not yet in a position to answer it as it has been
necessary first to write out to one of the colonies concerned
and we are still awaiting the Governor's reply.
I will write again as soon as possible.
Yours sincerely,
(Signed) E. B. ROTO.
Major Ulick Alexander, CMG., CVO., OBE.
